Emirates Green Building Council shares industry insights on energy efficiency in buildings at WETEX 2012

Emirates Green Building Council, EmiratesGBC, shared industry insights on promoting energy and water use efficiency in existing buildings and new constructions through its participation at the Water, Energy, Technology & Environment Exhibition (WETEX) that was recently held in Dubai.
Representatives of EmiratesGBC, an organization that promotes and educates on green issues in the built environment, were present at its dedicated stand at Zabeel Hall to draw the attention of different stakeholders towards sustainability in line with the UAE’s green vision.
Adnan Sharafi, Chairman of EmiratesGBC, said: “WETEX 2012 brought together all key stakeholders who are involved in the water and energy sector of the region, and proved an ideal platform to promote our mission of advancing green building systems. Our participation at the event that highlighted best practices in developing and maintaining sustainable built environments underlines our commitment to the UAE’s vision of a ‘Green Economy for Sustainable Development.’ Through our focus on energy efficiency, we can help reduce the ecological footprint and contribute to sustainable development.”
EmiratesGBC has set up its goals for 2012 and is inviting volunteers from its members to serve on various task forces that are aligned to promote the UAE’s green vision.
The Council currently has more than 260 members representing all stakeholders in the building construction supply chain.
EmiratesGBC regularly takes part in key conferences and exhibitions to promote sustainable built environments. The Council hosts a dedicated forum, ‘Focus Day’ that discusses various concerns and topics associated with driving sustainability. The Council also hosts a series of initiatives that facilitates industry dialogue and provides educational resources and information on sustainable practices.
