Emirates NBD hosts football legends at Dubai Festival City Mall
Emirates NBD and Dubai Festival City Mall recently offered customers the chance to meet five footballing legends from across the world at Dubai Festival City Mall. Fans were able to meet with Christian Karembeu, Fernando Gomes, Santé Esquerro, Rui Barros and Aldair Nascimento dos Santos, who were in the UAE for the Dubai Indoor Football Championships, in addition to getting the opportunity to get signed photographs of themselves with their favourite players.
The event was part of a whole day of football fun at Ikea Court, where Emirates NBD customers and football fans were able to test out their own skills in penalty shoot outs and other exciting football challenges, in addition to being given various opportunities to win a host of valuable prizes. Every customer who spent AED 150 across any Dubai Festival City Mall shop or restaurant was entitled to one raffle coupon which was entered into the weekly grand prize draw.
“As a customer-friendly bank, Emirates NBD aims to provide clients with opportunities that add value to their day to day life. This is the first time we have organised such an event in co-operation with Dubai Festival City Mall, and the response from customers who are football fans has been overwhelming,” said Saif Al Mansoori, Deputy Head – Group Marketing and Branding at Emirates NBD.
Murray Bell, Managing Director at Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate commented: “Dubai Festival City Mall was pleased to host this very special and unique event alongside
Emirates NBD, which provided football fans from around the UAE with the opportunity to meet some of the world’s greatest football legends. Football enthusiasts also had the chance to put their skills to the test while enjoying a day filled with challenge and excitement.”
As part of Emirates NBD’s Passion for Football initiative, the bank also organised a similar event last month, alongside Al Nasr Football Club, where customers were offered the chance to meet Swedish football veteran Sven-Göran Eriksson and rising UAE professional footballer, Habib Al Fardan. Passion for Football aims to support community-focussed sporting initiatives and offer customers the chance to meet their favourite sports starts.
Emirates NBD, the leading banking group in the region, was formed on 19 June 1963, when H.H. Late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum signed the Charter of Incorporation of the National Bank of Dubai (NBD) which became the first National Bank established in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With the blessings of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, NBD merged with Emirates Bank International (EBI) on 06 March 2007, to form Emirates NBD, the largest banking group in the region by assets. On 16 October 2007, the shares of Emirates NBD were officially listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM). The merger between EBI and NBD to create Emirates NBD, became a regional consolidation blueprint for the banking and finance sector as it combined the second and fourth largest banks in the UAE to form a banking champion capable of delivering enhanced value across corporate, retail, private, Islamic and investment banking throughout the region.
