On the Occasion of “Eid” and “Smile 2.0” Programme, Aster Volunteers join hands with Emirates Red Crescent.

With Eid holidays approaching, Aster Volunteers and Emirates Red Crescent-Dubai joined hands to conduct the next chapter of the ‘Smile’ programme and bring happiness and health to100 less fortunate children in UAE. Some of these children are orphaned, while others have been rescued from hardships from countries including Syria, Yemen and Iraq.  The programme echoes the sentiments put forth in the Year of Zayed, a reflection of the UAE's Founding Father's vision to promote the health and wellbeing of children everywhere.

The programme was conducted over two days where the children got an opportunity to shop, receive Eid gifts from Aster Volunteers, followed by medical screening at Aster Hospital Mankhool. To make it more engaging, various activities like art & craft workshops and painting competitions were also held.

Mr. Mohammed Al Haj Al Zarooni, Director of the UAE Red Crescent, Dubai Branch thanked Aster Volunteers for their humanitarian initiatives. He said: "The Red Crescent believes in the power of collaboration with other entities to help the poor and disadvantaged, especially children."

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare said, “We are fortunate that we could bring a moment of joy and happiness in the lives of these children, on the blessed occasion of Eid. At Aster DM Healthcare, we believe in making a positive difference in the lives of people in need. Enabling the health and well-being of the children in need is a step in that direction.”

The programme was driven by 30 medical and non-medical volunteers, with a keen intention to put a smile on the lips of these children and make Eid special for them. The medical screening consisted of check-ups from general practitioners and medical experts across specialties including ear, nose and throat (ENT), dental and pediatrics.

Aster Volunteers programme is the corporate social responsibility initiative of Aster DM Healthcare. It was launched on occasion of the company’s 30th anniversary in 2017 and provides a platform which bridges the gap between people who would like to help with those in need. Today, through various initiatives like Blood Donation drives, Basic Life Support training, Free Surgeries and Investigations, Medical Camps and recruitment of differently abled people, the programme has been able to impact 646,764 lives.
