Emirates - the Official Airline of the Dubai World Championship presented by DP World – provided lucky golf fans the chance to play alongside some stars of the game as the tournament week got under way with the Rolex Pro-Am.

In addition to providing an unforgettable experience for the 12 amateurs in the Emirates teams - who played with Ryder Cup winners Ian Poulter of England, Sergio Garcia and Miguel Angel Jimenez of Spain, and Sweden’s Peter Hanson - the airline will also be offering spectators the chance to win a dream trip to Argentina at the event.

To celebrate the launch of flights to Buenos Aires on 3rd January, Emirates will be rolling out a number of Argentina-themed activities at Jumeirah Golf Estates. Its hospitality suite overlooking the 18th green will have a South American flavour, while dancers will be on hand at the Emirates booth in the village area to offer spectators short Tango lessons.

The dancers will also be showing golf fans how they can win return flights to Buenos Aires, plus three nights’ accommodation at the Palacio Duhau – Park Hyatt Buenos Aires.

They will be distributing flyers featuring instructions on how to enter the draw by solving a simple puzzle with clues posted at five holes near the village area.

The Pro-Am was particularly special for Stephen Wade, Paul Barbone and Sudhir Vora, members of Skywards - the airline’s frequent flyer programme - who won a place in Garcia’s Pro-Am team by topping the leaderboard at the annual Skywards Golf Day on Monday.

“To play with a golfer who has achieved so much in the game is something I will always remember. He is a wonderful character and great fun to play with. I only wish I could also remember all the handy tips he shared and be able to put them into practice,” said Wade, from America, who plays off 21.

It was also a day to remember for Barbone after playing in a four-ball with Garcia, who led their Emirates team to first place in the Pro-Am.

“It was an immense challenge to play on a course which has been set up to test the world’s best players. The professionals make it look so easy on TV, but a lot of people don’t realise how much more difficult the conditions are for them,” said the 11-handicapper from Canada.
