ENOC celebrates Hag El Leila with children at Latifa Hospital

Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) celebrated Hag El Leila, the traditional Emirati festival celebrated in the middle of Sha’ban, the auspicious month before Ramadan, by distributing sweets and gifts to children at Latifa Hospital.

Organised under the TarabuT initiative, an employee engagement programme to foster staff participation in corporate social responsibility initiatives, a group of Emirati and expatriate staff members of ENOC visited the hospital with goodie bags, which were gifted to more than 60 children.

Saeed Khoory, Chief Executive Officer of ENOC, said: “By celebrating Hag El Leila with children at Latifa Hospital, our goal was to spread cheer and smiles among the little ones and to highlight the spirit of the festival, which is part of the Emirati heritage. It also highlighted our corporate social responsibility commitment to undertaking and supporting events that are socially and culturally relevant to our society. The children at Latifa Hospital were delighted to receive the sweets and gifts, we are thankful to the hospital authorities for their support.”

On Hag el Leila, traditionally children go from house to house in their neighbourhoods singing traditional songs to collect sweets, nuts and money. They usually wear traditional clothes and carry bags specially made for this occasion.

ENOC’s TarabuT has promoted the active participation of the company’s employees in a number of CSR activities. As part of TarabuT, employees have raised funds for people affected by natural disasters in other countries, given free First Aid training to the public, and held community activities for children with special needs.
