Environment Society Of Oman Renews Partnership With Veolia For Education And Capacity Building Programmes

The Environment Society of Oman (ESO) has renewed its partnership with Veolia Oman, a leading global and regional resource management company and long-term supporter of ESO. Signed by Her Highness Sayyida Tania Al Said, ESO President, and Erwan Rouxel, Veolia Oman Country Manager, the agreement extends support for two of ESO’s core programs targeting Omani youth the ESO Capacity Building programme, which was launched in 2012 to train Omani graduates in the field of environmental conservation, and the Namat Competition, which was launched in 2019 to encourage school students to find sustainable solutions to today’s environmental challenges.
“Over the last 18 years, our educational programmes have reached hundreds of students, both young and old, across the country, teaching them about the importance of conservation, and equipping them to contribute to a sustainable environmental for the future of Oman. We couldn’t deliver this work without the help of our partners. We are grateful to Veolia Oman for their ongoing support, which is a reflection of their commitment to ecological transformation in Oman and their belief in the power that comes from investing in the next generation,” said Her Highness Sayyida Tania Al Said.
“We’re pleased to re-strengthen our ties with ESO and be a part of these wonderful initiatives once again. This partnership is one way that we are fulfilling our aim to address some of the biggest environmental issues of our time, in line with our mission for ecological transformation. Through our collaboration, we will be able to raise increased awareness of environmental protection, and progress towards becoming a sustainable community,” added Erwan Rouxel.
Veolia has operated in Oman for more than 12 years, and the country remains one of its most important development platforms in the region, employing more than 120 people to date. With a mission to become the benchmark company for ecological transformation, Veolia works hand-in-hand with its stakeholders to create sustainable economic, social and environmental solutions.
Operating since 2004, a core objective of ESO is to develop Omanis in the field of environmental conservation. Since 2010, its Capacity Building initiatives have trained and hired more than 15 Omani graduates in conservation strategies, community engagement and NGO management, giving them an opportunity to pursue a career with ESO or take on environmental roles in the public or private sector. Meanwhile, it organises a range of competitions, workshops and community activities throughout the year to engage Oman’s young people in environmental conservation.
