Etihad celebrates UAE’s 40th birthday with free tickets

Etihad Airways is giving away dozens of free tickets to two of its newest destinations; Dusseldorf in Germany and Chengdu in China.
Forty return tickets will be given away for the inaugural flights to both destinations in December as part of a special promotion to celebrate the UAE’s 40th birthday.
Etihad begins flying to Chengdu on December 15 and Dusseldorf the next day. The free tickets can be accessed through a competition which opens at 6pm on Etihad’s facebook page. The competition is only open to UAE based fans of Etihad Airways’ facebook page (conditions apply).
Also from 6 pm on Thursday, December 1, Etihad will launch a major sales promotion within the UAE offering 40 guests the opportunity to book roundtrip economy class tickets to destinations within the GCC and Middle East for as little as AED 40.
Etihad is also planning the following activities:
An Etihad aircraft will fly over the UAE’s seven Emirates stopping in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Al Ain. The “Flying the Flag” aircraft will be flown by an Emarati pilot and carry the UAE flag.
Three specially branded Etihad buses will tour Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai and cabin crew will distribute giveaways.
All Etihad aircraft fleet will be branded with the Spirit of the Union logo.
The Etihad head office has been decorated with a spectacular lighting display that features the Spirit of the Union logo and UAE flag.
A celebration for Etihad staff and families will be held on Sunday, December 4, and will include activities such as henna application, traditional food, a cultural exhibition and a kids corner.
James Hogan, Etihad Airways Chief Executive, said: “Etihad Airways is proud to carry the flag of the United Arab Emirates as it celebrates its 40th anniversary. As the national airline of the UAE we wanted to join the celebrations in an exceptional way and what better way than to brand all our fleet and take the spirit of the union message across the world.”
Etihad has also launched a facebook competition which will run until December 10. The competition will select the four best photos that reflect the beauty of the UAE. Etihad facebook fans will decide the winners, who will each get two economy tickets to any Etihad destination of their choice.
