BurJuman presents “Fashion Expose” – a platform for fashion design students of the Emirates

Fashion design students will get a chance to showcase their creativity at Fashion Expose, the only competition between fashion design colleges in the Emirates, set to take place on Friday, 29th of November at BurJuman.
Conceptualized and supported by the mall, entry to the competition was extended to all universities, colleges and fashion design institutes in the Emirates. On receiving the applications, only the highest quality designs were shortlisted and offered the opportunity to showcase their creations on the ramp at BurJuman.
Imad Abdul Malak, Marketing and PR Manager of BurJuman, said “We are delighted to announce this year’s Fashion Expose competition, and we have seen some remarkable designs turned even at the preliminary level. We wish to turn Fashion Expose into an annual event thatstudents of fashion can look forward to competing in and that will provide themthe opportunity to grow their profile within the industry. The finalists are chosen on the basis of their creativity of the design, innovation and adherence to the theme and we look forward to the designs that will be on show at the event.”
The fashion design institutes that made the cut are Preston University Ajman, Campustar Fashion Institute & CEE – Centre for Executive Education. The students are currently working around the clock to produce the stunning outfits that will soon be on show.
The theme for this year is Decades of Fashion, starting from the 1950s to contemporary fashion. In creating their designs, the students have been challenged to research, innovate and most of all impress.
The panel of judges are as illustrious as the event – HananShlash, Designer and Evening Store Manager at Saks Fifth Avenue; Annalisa Trentadue, Head Fashion Buyer from O Concept Jumeirah; Kelly Lundberg, Owner of Divine, a bespoke styling company; and last but not least,Ushi Sato, a prominent fashion journalist.
The winning university will be awarded a trophy, will have the pieces showcased in the contemporary department of Saks Fifth Avenue on level s1 from December 1-14, will receive additional gifts by the sponsors and AED 20,000 in cash.
The show will be open to the public and entry isfree. The event will start at 7:30pm and the winning fashion institute will be announced by the end of the evening.
