FGB appoints new Head of HR

Gulf Bank, (FGB), the leading financial partner of choice in the UAE, recently appointed Gareth Powell as its new Head of Human Resources. In line with FGB’s commitment to its employees and stakeholders, Powell’s appointment is meant to achieve growth for the bank and for its employees through the development of innovative strategies and HR policies.
Previously he worked at HSBC, as well as in numerous other countries including the UK, US, Latin America, Asia and most recently, UAE. Through his diverse background and vast experience, Powell’s ability to address HR issues effectively whilst understanding the local culture and its importance when formulating decisions will help in FGB’s development plans.

Gareth Powell graduated from King’s College in London. Having begun his career as an accountant, Powell then moved to HR and received his professional qualifications in 1990. Since then, he has held many positions in different locations, including his post as a consultant in Eastern Europe, and his job at different branches of HSBC, which he joined in 1992.
