FGB showcases job opportunities in banking and financial services at Careers UAE 2016
FGB, one of the leading banks in the UAE, showcased its career opportunities for Emiratis in the banking and financial services sector at ‘Careers UAE’ 2016 today, which is set to run until May 18th at Dubai World Trade Centre.
The bank, which is exhibiting at stand ZB-9 in hall 2, is meeting with potential candidates during the event and looking to recruit talented Emiratis for a range of managerial roles. FGB is also looking to recruit Emirati graduates for its fast-track management trainee programme, Nujoom, and summer training/internship programmes. Throughout Careers UAE, FGB is also hosting a number of interactive workshops for attendees at its stand.
Now in its 16th year, Careers UAE provides a platform for talented UAE nationals across all fields to meet with recruiters and hiring managers from leading employers, and is designed to expose job seekers to a wide range of training and career opportunities.
Gareth Powell, Head of Human Resources at FGB, said: “Our participation at Careers UAE has proven to be very successful over the years and allows us to meet a wide range of talented Emirati job-seekers, as well as showcase the opportunities we have open to them at FGB. FGB currently has over 300 Emirati colleagues across all businesses, functions and levels. This reflects our ongoing efforts to promote further Emirati participation in the banking and finance sector by investing in the development of UAE Nationals and providing the support they need to enhance their skills and progress to increasing levels of responsibility in their career. We are committed to playing a crucial role in supporting the nation’s development and are continuously working towards providing Emiratis with career development opportunities in banking.”
FGB has participated in Careers UAE for the past 8 years. Last year, FGB recruited 22 Emiratis from its participation at the exhibition.
Noora Al Reyasi, Head of Learning & Development at FGB, said: “Emiratis are a vital part of the FGB workforce and we’re committed to actively increasing the number of UAE Nationals employed in the sector through the various learning and development initiatives we’ve launched. Through our Business School, we are helping Emiratis to enhance their capabilities and expertise to pursue successful careers in the finance and banking industry, and we will continue to drive these programmes forward to attract new talent and support our existing employees. Exhibitions like Careers UAE provide a fantastic platform for us to engage with the local community, identify potential trainees and employees, and provide career guidance as well as advice about the opportunities available in the industry. We’re looking forward to meeting with additional candidates throughout the remainder of the event.”
FGB currently offers a wide range of programmes to attract and retain UAE nationals. The bank’s Nujoom programme is an accelerated 18-month scheme which is designed to attract talented graduates into the banking sector. It features state-of-the–art interactive modules, incorporating business simulations, group work, job rotations, projects, assessments and individual as well as team presentations, and on-the-job coaching.
For current undergraduate students, the bank offers internship opportunities and a summer training programme, which places participants in various departments within the bank such as Consumer Banking, Wholesale Banking, Treasury & Global Markets, Islamic Banking, and Support and Control Functions, allowing them to experience a real-life working environment. FGB also offers a more advanced, Specialist Bankers Programme, which is designed for Emirati students studying overseas with a minimum of one year of professional experience and a Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree, who want to develop a career in the financial services sector.
