Friendship Cup brings Cricketing Carnival to National Sport Day

On the occasion of National Sport Day, Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development organised a friendly T-20 cricket match between RasGas and Qatar Foundation Cricket Club (QFCC). The ‘Friendship Cup’, an annual event held under the auspices of Qatar Foundation’s Health, Safety, Security & Environment Directorate (H.S.S.E.), was played at the newly opened QFCC cricket ground.
RasGas won the toss and elected to bat first. A solid display from opener Satish Patel, ably supported by Muhammed Ishfaque and Muhammed Khalid, allowed the visitors to complete their quota of 20 overs with an imposing total of 139 for 7. For Qatar Foundation, Saket Chaudhary chipped in with two wickets, and Mr. Abdulla Al-Modhaki, Executive Director of H.S.S.E., bowled immaculately to claim the wicket of Khalid.
Chasing a target of 140, Qatar Foundation lost several early wickets, slumping to 37 for 4 at one stage. Musthak Ahammed Harid steadied the innings with a patient knock of 33, and a man of the match performance from Saket Chaudhary, who scored a whirlwind 34 off 18 balls, gave the home side hope. However, Qatar Foundation ultimately fell short, reaching 116 at the end of the stipulated 20 overs. Adnan Sheikh and Shiras Aliyar took two wickets each for the victorious RasGas team.
Mr. Abdulla Al-Modhaki thanked and congratulated the visiting team for winning this year's Friendship Cup. He lauded both sides for playing competitive cricket and displaying a positive spirit and good sportsmanship throughout. Later, Mr. Al-Modhaki and Abid Bohra of RasGas presented the medals and trophies to the participating teams and individual winners.
