GE Healthcare unveils new Orthopedic Surgical Solution

Today at Arab Health 2013, GE Healthcare (NYSE: GE) will showcase advanced imaging solutions for the surgical space, helping clinicians see more in the OR. These innovations from OEC take surgical imaging to the next level, with offerings including OEC’s new, affordable Brivo 865 Advance C-arm and the company’s Hybrid OR solution.

OEC Brivo* 865 Advance:

GE’s leadership in innovation continues with the OEC Brivo 865 Advance, the company’s latest addition to its portfolio of surgical C-arms. With legacy OEC image quality and ease-of-use, this new Brivo C-arm will offer a high quality, affordable option for orthopedic surgical imaging.

The Brivo Advance utilizes enhancements and extras such as Advanced Clear Intelligence imaging, an intuitive user interface, and wireless connectivity—to give surgical teams the image quality and easy-to-use technology they’ve come to expect from OEC, with the affordability of the Brivo product line.

GE Hybrid OR:

GE Healthcare will also highlight its OEC 9900 Elite MD at Arab Health 2013. With the power, precision and performance available from the OEC 9900 Elite MD, this mobile C-arm is an option for Hybrid ORs in which complex interventional procedures are performed.

“When bringing open and endovascular procedures into one room, the GE Hybrid OR makes it possible to treat more cases with great confidence,” said Shrawder. “From mobile to fixed imaging systems, GE Healthcare offers a robust portfolio of products for healthcare providers to choose from.”

The OEC 9900 Elite MD has a unique X-ray tube and cooling system that allows for full-resolution imaging for longer periods of time. With 22% more target cooling and up to 100% more housing cooling than previous OEC C-arms, the 9900 Elite MD enhances procedural capabilities. With the table-side remote user interface of the OEC 9900 Elite MD, physicians have control over their C-arm and their procedures. This motorized C-arm allows 9 degrees per second orbital, lateral, and combo movements controlled from the remote user interface with an on-screen angle indicator.

“I think motorization is really the key to success when performing complex endovascular aortic repairs (EVAR),” states Professor Stephan Haulon¹. “I really have complete control of the system. This has decreased the overall procedure time and radiation of the procedure.” Dr. Haulon is the Vascular Surgery Department Chair at University Hospital in Lille, France, where the 9900 Elite MD is used in the Hybrid OR.  He says he now performs a regular EVAR in 45 minutes to an hour, where it used to take almost an hour and a half.
