GE Renewable Energy and Turkey’s Fina Enerji have broadened their cooperation into a comprehensive ten-year full service agreement (FSA), complemented by a two-year trial of GE’s Predix-powered digital wind farm solutions.

The new FSA is designed to allocate Operation and Maintenance (O&M) responsibilities between the parties, replacing the previous services agreement. Following Fina’s updated business strategy and under the recently signed agreement, all O&M related responsibilities will be forwarded to GE Renewable Energy for the duration of the contract.

As part of the FSA, GE Renewable Energy aims to implement GE’s Digital Wind Farm comprehensive hardware and software solutions, uniquely designed to increase the operational efficiency of the wind farms while enabling further performance enhancements. The solution is powered by Predix, GE’s platform for the Industrial Internet.

Sanjeev Addala, CDO GE Renewable Energy, said: “At GE, we believe access to data is very powerful. Our goal is to bring big data to our customers to allow them to make informed decisions on fleet management. Getting access to this level of data analytics and data forecasting is a win-win for GE and Fina”.

Volkan Başkaya, GM Operations Department of Fina, added: “This type of agreement ensures that GE is not just a service provider, but an operational partner. They are incentivized to make our projects an even bigger success”.

The implementation of GE’s Digital Wind Farm solutions will begin during the second quarter of 2017 and will include capabilities such as: Asset Performance Management (APM), Operation Optimization and Business Optimization – including Cloud Connect, Wind Fleet Excellence, Enterprise e-SCADA, and Wind Power Forecasting, for the entire fleet.

By complementing its services offering with the application of its full digital capabilities, GE Renewable Energy expects to develop smarter wind power forecasts to meet the requirements of Turkey.

GE Renewable Energy is a $10 billion start-up that brings together one of the broadest product and service portfolios of the renewable energy industry. It has installed more than 400 gigawatts capacity globally.
