With genuine enthusiasm to honour its humanitarian duty to the wider community, and in line with HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE’s announcement of 2017 as the Year of Giving, the General Administration of Customs – Abu Dhabi commemorated International Workers' Day with extensive celebrations.

Leading the celebrations, Mohamed Khadem Al Hameli, Acting Director General of the General Administration of Customs - Abu Dhabi, honoured workers at Abu Dhabi Customs, in the presence of executive directors and heads of departments. This took place as a part of the UAE’s commitment to the human right to work, guaranteed by its Constitution and laws; along with The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

The celebrations included several recreational activities aimed at bringing joy to the employees, as well as honoring and recognizing a number of workers for their role and contributions to the General Administration of Customs - Abu Dhabi.

Al Hameli stated: “Workers' Day is a wonderful opportunity for us to show our appreciation for our talented staff and workers who dedicated themselves wholeheartedly everyday into performing their jobs to the fullest and best of their abilities; contributing significantly and tangibly to the development of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and nation."

He added: “Every year, we eagerly anticipate our celebrations of this day, as an avenue to honour local and international laws, and recognise the important role of Abu Dhabi Customs staff in the construction and development of the nation." Al-Hameli emphasized that such initiatives do not only serve to motivate workers, but are also a sincere expression of the General Administration of Customs - Abu Dhabi appreciation for their efforts and a way to bring happiness and joy to the wider Abu Dhabi Customs family.
