Gitex Technology Week 2017: Community Development Authority Showcases Advanced Applications for Volunteers, People of Determination and the Elderly

Dubai’s Community Development Authority (CDA) rolled out a bundle of new or upgraded smart applications at GITEX Technology Week 2017, taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre on October 8-12.
CDA is presenting one of its most innovative initiatives to date, targeting elderly people who live alone in Dubai. The service includes installing sensors in older persons’ homes that use radiation to detect changes in the occupants’ conditions, without the need for surveillance cameras. The device produces health readings and monitors movement to ensure the user is in good health; these readings are then sent to the call centre in the Community Development Authority headquarters, which remains vigilant for anything out of the ordinary.
Thani Bin Jarash, Executive Director of Corporate Support Sector at CDA, said: “Taking part in a high-profile event such as GITEX Technology Week provides us with deep insight into the latest technological innovations, which we can then utilise to serve all segments of society as we incorporate them into our services. This supports our overall goal of ensuring Dubai’s global lead in the quality of community services.”
On another note, the Authority is using its platform at GITEX to showcase the updates to its applications, including Sanad, which will partner with different centres around the world to allow those with hearing disabilities or speech impairment to communicate with other people or organisations and access the services they need in their everyday lives. The new developments will allow Sanad to include the private sector in the provision of services, which aligns with the Authority’s directives.
Visitors to CDA’s pavilion can also view the updated version of the Dubai Volunteer Application, which streamlines and facilitates the procedures for registering volunteers and announcing volunteer opportunities.
The Community Development Authority is also presenting its own smart application, which provides information regarding its services and programmes, access to the latest studies, research and surveys carried out by the Authority in cooperation with its strategic partners, and a list of activities and events targeting members of the community throughout the year.
Those interested in further exploring CDA’s smart services can visit our stand at GITEX Technology Week 2017, Sheikh Saeed Hall, S2-A1, Dubai World Trade Centre.
