Global Village and Zayed Award for Human Fraternity host inspiring Youth Townhall marking the International Day of Human Fraternity

Global Village and Zayed Award for Human Fraternity hosted a Youth Human Fraternity Townhall to celebrate the International Day of Human Fraternity, recognized by the United Nations.  

Examining the significance of fostering cultural diversity globally, the event took place on Sunday February 5, 2023. Over 50 UAE-based students from GEMS Modern Academy and GEMS New Millennium School aged between 14 and 17 gathered to meet 2014 Nobel laureate and 2023 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity judging committee member Kailash Satyarthi.

Satyarthi addressed the students, inspiring them and discussing the principles and values of human fraternity. He emphasized the role of hope in shaping the future. In an open discussion, the students shared their perspectives and expressed their dedication and strong commitment to promoting tolerance among all people.

Lakshmi Jayasankar, Guidance Counselor and Student Leadership Mentor at GEMS New Millennium School, said: “Being able to meet a Nobel Peace Prize laureate is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that my students and I are grateful to have been a part of the event organized by Zayed Award for Human Fraternity and Global Village. I was deeply inspired by Mr. Kailash Satyarthi's insightful words and wisdom. The engaging discussions and personal anecdotes resonated with my students. The examples of student initiatives in Germany and Sweden, as Mr. Satyarthi mentioned, planted a seed in the minds of the audience. As he correctly stated; Hope is the foundation of creating human fraternity."

Global Village is home to over 90 cultures from around the world and gathers 10,000 partners from over 100 different nationalities every season with an overarching value of bringing together different cultures in harmony to create a more wonderful world.

The UN-recognized International Day of Human Fraternity held annually on February 4 seeks to promote interfaith harmony and human solidarity. This day has been recognized to inspire a commitment to stand together as one human family.
