THE Group, the retail pioneer behind Cozmo, Readers, Hamleys, M&Co, and British Home Stores (BHS), recently sponsored the launch of Empowering Women through Cooking – Jordan cookbook. The book was recently launched at an event at the Landmark Amman Hotel, which was attended by media representatives and social media influencers and who are active advocates of women's issues.

The book is a joint venture between Seven Circles Company and a select group of institutions in the Kingdom and highlights the lives and successes of several of women from different walks of life. The women’s stories are presented along with a selection of their favourite Middle Eastern recipes. The book also includes health and nutrition guidelines and information on women's entrepreneurship in cooking.

THE Group supported the production of the book by providing the Cozmo facilities where the recipes were prepared and photographed. Cozmo also supplied the ingredients used to prepare the recipes. In addition, Readers has included the cookbook in its stores, where the book is sold exclusively.

Commenting on the occasion, the Regional Marketing Manager at THE Group, Rawan Sabri, said: “We are proud to contribute to the publication of this valuable book, which is the beginning of an empowering movement for women which is taking place in 10 countries across the world. The sponsorship of this project is in line with our corporate social responsibility strategy, which focuses on supporting both women and the less fortunate. We recognize the need for concerted efforts to help achieve community development, and we hope to help by serving and supporting all members of society.”

In addition to supporting and empowering women and prioritizing the implementation of development programs, one main goal of the book is to support “Feeding All,” a cause that proudly partners with the UN World Food Programme in Jordan and Tkyiet Um Ali.

The event included a number of activities, the most prominent of which were the success stories of the featured women and the discussion of how institutions and individuals can work together to empower women in Jordanian society, as women are a crucial factor in building communities.

The stories in Empowering Women through Cooking – Jordan range from those of women who have overcome insurmountable challenges to reach their goals to women who have accomplished successful and sustainable entrepreneurship.

This initiative is one of a series of initiatives established by THE Group aimed at enhancing the role of women, expanding the options available to them and enabling them to be more positive and productive.
