The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) has announced the date and venue for the Sixth Annual GPCA Forum, which will take place at Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai from 13-15 December 2011.

The petrochemical industry continues to recover from the global recession and following on from last year’s successful event, which attracted over 1,300 delegates, this year’s theme will be ‘Moving Downstream – Creating Added Value and Sustainable Growth’.

Prince Faisal Bin Turki, Advisor, Ministry of Petroleum & Mineral Resources, will be the keynote speaker at the forum this year. Prince Faisal is the Gas Regulator in Saudi Arabia and is distinguished for his role in advancing the development of the petrochemical industry, both upstream and downstream. Prince Turki is also the Vice Chairman of National Program for Industrial Clusters.

Having capitalized on feedstock advantage, GPCA member companies in the coming decade will be challenged to capture further, sustainable value creating opportunities. These lie downstream and are linked to the development of industrial clusters across the region, particularly those being established to provide materials for the automotive, flexible packaging and appliances sectors, according to industry experts. Petrochemicals provide the essential building blocks for further industrial and social development.

“The GPCA Annual Forum remains a key date in the industry diary, providing attendees with a fantastic opportunity to access and network with industry leaders and decision-makers, and gain the latest market intelligence. At this early stage the program has already attracted top-level speakers from leading chemical companies and we expect the 2011 Forum to be the most successful yet” said Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, Secretary General, GPCA.

Over three days, delegates attending the Forum will benefit from unparalleled networking opportunities and hear from top-level speakers discussing aspects of the conference theme, including:

Prince Faisal Bin Turki, Advisor, Ministry of Petroleum & Minerals.

Mohammed Al-Mady, Chairman, GPCA; Vice Chairman and CEO, Sabic.

Stephen Pryor, President, ExxonMobil Chemical Company.

Hamad Rashid Al-Mohannadi, Deputy Chairman, Qatar Petroleum.

Jim Gallogly, CEO, LyondellBasell.

Tom Crotty, Chairman, Ineos ChlorVinyls.

Luther C. Kissams IV, President, Albemarle Corporation.

Dr Fahad Al Mubarak, Chairman and Managing Director, Morgan Stanley Saudi Arabia.

Year on year the Forum sees significant increases in attendance and it is now the largest gathering of petrochemical leaders and decision-makers in the Middle East. The Forum has become the flagship petrochemical event in the region.
