Based on its belief in the importance of community partnership and the synergy and integration of efforts between the public and private sectors to discover, nurture and develop the talents of People of Determination, Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) visited Mawaheb , the art studio dedicated to  People of Determination, at its new headquarters in Al Quoz. The aim is to shed light on these talents and enhance their potential.

Wemmy de Maaker, Director of Mawaheb, received Hala Badri and her accompanying team from the Authority and highlighted the studio’s vision and future plans, discussing means of support that Dubai Culture can provide.

Badri indicated that Dubai Culture has been keen on supporting the studio’s efforts since its inception in 2010, based on its cultural responsibility to support talents. She also stressed that effecting a fundamental change in the lives of People of Determination and enhancing their happiness is part of the Authority’s social responsibility. She also commended the studio’s outstanding contributions in providing a valuable platform to discover talented People of Determination and helping them develop their life and social skills through arts.

Badri and the accompanying delegation were briefed on the studio’s facilities and observed its students indulging in their artwork, characterised by aesthetic touches that reflect their latent creative energies.

Mawaheb is helping build a more inclusive Dubai. Mawaheb’s café, event space and merchandise shop featuring gifts made by the students of the next door Mawaheb art studio, is a popular go-to place for the art and design community and progressive organisations focused on social inclusion as an important value.
