Hamad Medical Corporation marks Qatar National Sports Day

On the occasion of Qatar National Sports Day, HMC is hosting a program of healthy and sports-related activities for staff and their families.

The program will center around two main activities:

• A walkathon around Hamad bin Khalifa Medical City (HBKMC) starting at 9am from the Nurses Club and
• A mini football tournament to also be held at the Nurses Club from 2pm to 4pm.

The HMC Qatar National Sports Day Organizing Committee has also organized a full range of other healthy and fun activities (including basketball, mini golf, children’s games and other events) in and around HBKMC from 9 am.

Participants in the HMC Qatar National Sports Day events will have the opportunity to check their blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), height and weight and diabetes screenings are also available. Staff from HMC’s Nutrition Department will be present to provide healthy eating advice. 

Commenting on HMC’s participation in Qatar National Sports Day, Mr. Ali Al Khater, and Executive Director of HMC’s Corporate Communications Department said that as the principal public healthcare provider in Qatar, HMC plays an integral role on the day both on a wider community and staff level.

 “HMC is striving to implement the Qatar National Vision 2030 which highlights the need to build a healthy society to meet the country’s growth and development goals,” Mr. Al Khater said. “HMC is proud to be participating in the Qatar National Sports Day activities for the fourth consecutive year. This special day highlights Qatar’s commitment to a healthy future and we are pleased to be joining other major government entities and organizations in supporting this day.” 

Ms. Aisha Al Khulaifi, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at HMC (part of the Corporate Communications Department) said: “We are actively encouraging our staff and their families to get involved and to make every effort to lead a healthy life.”
