HMC and PHCC hold Health Awareness Expo at Khawlah Primary School

School students were taught the long term benefits of living a healthy lifestyle at a recent exhibition staged by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in collaboration with the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC).
The event, held at KhawlaBintAl-AzwarIndependentPrimary School for Girls, also marked the conclusion of “We Are Healthy” program for this part of the year, which has been touring schools in Qatar.
The exhibition was opened by Mr. Ali Abdulla Al-Khater, Executive Director of Corporate Communication Department at HMC, Ms. Aisha Bakhit Al-Meadhadi, Operator and Principal of Khawla Bint Al-Azwar Independent Primary School for Girls and Ms. Balqees Al Khazragi, Director of Health Professions Awareness and Volunteering programs at HMC.
“We are proud at HMC of our commitment to the community and see it as our role to educate people about the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle,” Mr. Ali Al-Khater said. “A key part of this outreach to our community involves visits to schools and universities.
“HMC is also committed to encouraging Qatari youth careers in the healthcare profession. A healthy population is the key to our nation’s prosperity and HMC is proud to be playing a role in fostering this.”
Ms. Al Khazragi said exhibitions such as this one were a vital tool for promoting key issues surrounding health awareness.
“This is part of HMC’s drive to enhance the health and well-being of Qatar’s community, through fostering a physically, mentally and socially healthy generation of students,” she said. “We also highlight the important roles played by health professional and we have many representatives from the different medical professions attend including doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.
“This is in addition to our nursing awareness program, which encourages Qatari youth to seek a career in this vital profession, in order to meet the community’s growing need for more nurses in our community.”
Dr. Yousra Bagadi, PHCC Health Promotion Manager said the initiative has proved to be a real success in disseminating vital information. She said similar exhibitions and events were planned for the future.
Many organizations took part in the event including the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, Qatar University, Qatar National Anti-Doping Commission, Arshidni Center for Rehabilitation, Qatar Cancer Society, Sheikh Eid bin Mohammed Al-Thani Charity Association, Abdulla Bin Zaid Islamic Cultural Center (FANAR), Qatar Fencing Federation, Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Ladies Creative Center, Qatar Center for Voluntary Activities, Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Club, Qatar Social and Cultural Center for the Blind, Althakhira Youth Center and Qatar Green Center.
