Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, was honored by industry leaders with the prestigious title of Middle East “Wireless Vendor of the Year” at the sixth Network World ME Awards 2015.

The annual awards ceremony, which took place at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai, celebrated the best organizations on the IT scene with accolades being presented to those that had shown consistently outstanding performance over the last 12 months.

Huawei took home the coveted Wireless Vendor award as a result of its work delivering next-generation wireless broadband deployments for enterprises in the UAE such as Jannah Hotel Group, Emirates Golf Club and Al Noor Training Center for Children with Special Needs.

The awards judging panel comprised of leading industry experts including Arun Tewary, Chief Information Officer, Vice President for IT, Emirates Flight Catering; Esam Hadi, Aluminium Bahrain’s Senior IT Manager; Madhav Rao, Emke Group’s CIO; and Paul Black, IDC’s Director of Telecoms and Media for the Middle East, Africa and Turkey.

Jeevan Thankappan, Group Editor of the Technology Division at CPI Media Group said: “Huawei was chosen as the wireless vendor of the year by the Network World ME Awards judging panel for its focus on customers, breadth of products, solutions, and major customer acquisitions in the region.”

With a strong heritage of building and deploying wireless broadband networks in the region, Huawei showcased its latest WiFi networking projects that it deployed for enterprises in the UAE.

Huawei’s lastest WiFi deployments include its recent partnership with ‘golf in DUBAi’, which brought seamless WiFi connectivity to the 2014 Omega Dubai Desert Classic Golf Tournament connecting up to 2000 guests at the same time. The company also rolled out the UAE’s fastest hotel WiFi for Jannah Hotels & Resorts.

In addition, Huawei deployed a new campus-wide WiFi network for Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs, which seamlessly connect teachers and students with the center’s digital learning platforms. Other work included deploying a transmission network on the Dubai Metro through du that is now providing access to mobile services in 18 metro stops.
