Hyundai’s All-new Azera wins prestigious Red Dot design award
Hyundai’s New-generation Azera has won a prestigious Red Dot award for outstanding design. The All-new Azera, which is due to launch in the Middle East next month, was awarded with the Red Dot award for ‘high design quality’ – only given for products that feature an outstanding design, and confirming its originality and its desirability for more youthful customers.
The Azera was one of two Hyundai models to win awards, with the All-new i30 receiving an ‘Honorable Mention’ for its highly competitive design. This is the fourth year in a row when Hyundai has been listed among the winners.
“This is a wonderful boost as we prepare to launch the Azera in the Middle East, with Hyundai now clearly and consistently being recognized as a leader in automotive design,” said Mike Song, Hyundai’s Head of Operations for Africa and the Middle East. “We believe that the All-new Azera will set new standards in its class, and to be honored in the Red Dot awards already sets us apart from the competition.”
Both the Hyundai Azera and i30 were recognized in the ‘Transportation Design’ section of the internationally-renowned awards program, which is within the ‘Product Design’ category. A common feature of both cars is the first implementation of Hyundai’s new signature ‘Cascading Grille’, which will become a unifying design element across the Hyundai range.
This latest recognition follows a series of award wins for Hyundai, reflecting its ongoing commitment to producing cars that demonstrate a unique and evolving design language. The All-new i30 has already been honored in the PIN UP Design Awards and 2017 iF Design Awards, at which judges praised its precise, refined lines that create a timeless and confident appearance.
Along with iF Design Awards and IDEA Design Awards, the Red Dot Awards are one of the three most prestigious international design awards programs. Organized by Design Zentrum Nordheim Westfalen, the organization reviews compelling design works in a wide range of categories in various fields, including design innovation, to determine each year’s exemplar designs.
This year, the Red Dot jury of 21 international design experts, professors and journalists evaluated over 5,000 product design works from over 50 different countries. It is the fourth consecutive year Hyundai has featured among the winners, following recognition for the i10 and Genesis in 2014, i20 and Sonata in 2015, and IONIQ in 2016, further confirming Hyundai’s design competence.
