Hyundai Elantra the Fifth Best-selling Car in the World

TheHyundai Elantra has topped fifth place in the ranking for the world’s best-selling car, according to a report issued by “Carmudi”. The study found that across the globe, Hyundai had sold a total of 406,995 units in the 24 years since its launch.

Juma Al Majid Est. the exclusive dealer of Hyundai motors in the UAE, revealed that the Elantra has contributed to the total sales for Hyundai models in the country and has been a significant factor in helping the company to expand its presence in the region.  

"The Hyundai Elantra’s dazzling success has been achieved through its creative design and economic fuel consumption, to name just two of its impressive qualities. To have the model placed as fifth best-selling car in the world is a stunning achievement and one of which we are very proud,” said Axel Dreyer, President, Juma Al Majid Est. Hyundai.

The automotive sector in the South Korea, which is home to Hyundai Motor Company, increased by 4.6 per cent in 2014. The market resembles that of the UAE by being characterised by strong competition of efficiency and performance relative to prices.

“Although the UAE is not Hyundai’s largest market globally in terms of number of units sold, it nevertheless occupies an important role as a sales centre in light of its economic prosperity, which sees significant purchasing power.” Dreyer quoted as saying.

He continued “ Elantra sales is the second best-selling  model that contributes to Hyundai’s line-up that translates into a substantial number of Hyundai vehicles leaving Juma Al Majid Est. Hyundai forecourts each year.”  

Sales of the Hyundai Elantra across the globe have been boosted by the model’s advanced features that saw it scoop the title of ‘Car of the Year’ at the North American International Auto Show in 2012. Sales have also increased in appreciation of its 1.8 litre, four-cylinder engine that delivers 148 horsepower using clean technology. The advanced power plant has enabled the Hyundai Elantra to obtain a zero emissions certificate from the United States’ Environmental Protection Agency, putting it on a par with hybrid electric vehicles and enhancing its status as an environmentally-friendly saloon that doesn’t compromise on driving pleasure.
