The fourth edition of “Schools without Accidents” campaign, sponsored by IBQ, promotes traffic awareness
The Qatar National Theater recently hosted an open day for traffic awareness as part of the activities and events held during the 4th edition of the annual “Schools without Accidents” campaign. The open day was championed by the organizing committee in partnership with IBQ and spearheaded by Corporal Abdulmuhsin Al Asmar Al Ruaili with the participation of 197 students -representing 11 high schools.
The organizing committee shared comprehensive and interesting facts about traffic with students, traffic coordinators, and supervising teachers. The competition’s program helped evaluate the accomplishments and results achieved throughout the different traffic endeavors that targeted students, and shed the light on the different traffic concepts, rules and ethics.
Additionally, a number of traffic awareness films, showing live examples of traffic mistakes and accidents, have been displayed.
Lieutenant Fahd Shreidah, Traffic Awareness Officer at the Traffic Administration started the open day activities with a speech on the wide interaction and strong participation shown by participating high schools. Shreidah also pointed out that the 4th edition of the campaign, held under the patronage of IBQ, witnessed a vast involvement from students and their supervising teachers who played a major role in organizing traffic seminars during which the unified curriculum book of the campaign was thoroughly explained and reviewed. The book presents information that covers all that is related to driver’s licenses, road signs, road indicators, signals, driving at intersections and in roundabouts, safety measures during driving, main components and parts in a vehicle, in addition to first aids and the list of traffic violations. The book also contains many lessons and information that drivers and pedestrians should be familiar with.
Shreidah mentioned that seminars and initiatives taken by students, including designing of special road signs to be put in schools, writing about topics related to traffic awareness and attending awareness lectures held by the organizing committee, have achieved positive results and have helped in enhancing awareness among students.
He also expressed the organizing committee’s appreciation of the wide interaction and involvement shown by high schools headmasters and student supervisors. Furthermore, Shreidah thanked IBQ for its generous patronage and support of the campaign.
George Nasra, Managing Director of IBQ, said: “Awareness and education are the core drivers of our Corporate Social Responsibility programme whereby we sponsor and support many social projects and events. IBQ wants to reach out to the community with a wide range of educational and charitable schemes to enhance the welfare of all, especially that of the schools and colleges in Qatar. Encouraging students and schoolchildren to compete for such a good cause is another positive aspect of the Schools Without Accidents campaign. At its heart, the campaign aligns with IBQ’s continued commitment to nurturing an environment of respect, care and trust in the community.”
The open day events also entailed a series of valuable comments from students comprising a number of traffic facts they have learned out of the unified curriculum book, and by attending awareness lectures held during the campaign.
