Jafza roadshow to Taiwan & China highlights Dubai as gateway to the world
Jafza, the premier Free Zone in the Middle East has recently conducted a highly-successful roadshow comprising workshops and business seminars in Taipei, Taiwan, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Beijing, China, where companies showed great interest in using the Free Zone as their launch-point to the world markets.
The Jafza team, led by Khalid Al Marzooqi, the Senior Manager for Jafza Sales in the Asia-Pacific region, and Jeffrey Xlyu, Jafza Sales Executive for the Asia-Pacific region met a number of high-profile Chinese companies which are looking to set up their Middle East base of operations in Jebel Ali Free Zone.
Ibrahim Mohamed Al Janahi, Deputy CEO Jafza and Chief Commercial Officer, Economic Zones World said that by virtue of its strategic central location, with the Jebel Ali Port on one end and the Al Maktoum International Airport on the other, Jafza is part of one of the largest sea-land-air corridors in the world. He explained that with the addition of upcoming Etihad rail passing through the Free Zone, Jafza will have another facet added to its multi-modal connectivity.
“We place a very high value on the level of expertise, commitment and global scale of the companies operating out of Jebel Ali Free Zone,” Al Marzooqi said.
“For companies looking for a global reach, the Jebel Ali Free Zone is a world class location, with an unsurpassed logistics infrastructure. It offers access to a market of over 2 billion people in the MENA region, and is one of the key reasons companies from all around the world are interested in setting up in the Free Zone,” he added.
The Free Zone is also located close to the site of the upcoming World Expo 2020, being held in Jebel Ali. Like Shanghai in 2010, the Dubai Expo will have a highly positive impact on the Dubai and UAE economy, with the benefits spreading across the entire MENA region.
For businesses in the area, this offers an added advantage, as the year 2020 draws near.
China, UAE’s second largest trade partner with trade around US$ 19 billion, has been one of the key trade partners since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries in 1984. China is also the largest trading partners of Jafza, with more than 175 Chinese companies currently based in the Free Zone, employing more than 1,100 people.
Close to 60 percent of China’s total trade passes through the UAE for re-export.
Jafza regularly holds roadshows and seminars in China to keep Chinese businesses abreast of the latest offerings from the Free Zone.
In Taipei, the Jafza team attended Computex, Asia’s largest ICT trade show, to meet with companies interested in setting up base of operations in Jafza. The Middle East Business Association of Taiwan and Taiwan External Trade Development Council, also organized a widely attended seminar to highlight the opportunities, facilities and advantages ICT companies have in operating from Jafza.

With e-commerce tailored regulations and one-stop-shop solutions, Matajicom will offer licensing, leasing and other utilities supported with world-class customs services, through a partnership with Dubai Customs.
