Jaguar Land Rover adds regional awards to string of global accolades

Luxury automotive manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover has kicked off the New Year with a number of regional award wins to complement their growing collection of global accolades for the 12MY range. Since January 2011, Jaguar Land Rover has scooped up over 165 award wins including regional tributes from Wheels, EVO, Automobile Middle East and Middle East Motor Awards.
The Range Rover Evoque, the newest addition to the Range Rover family has received widespread applause from customers and automotive industry pundits since hitting showrooms across the MENA region in November last year. The Evoque, which expands the appeal of the Range Rover brand to a younger urban conquest audience, has earned over 60 awards worldwide including BBC Top Gear’s much coveted ‘Car of the Year’, along with a spate of regional awards including Wheels magazine’s ‘Premium 4 x 4’, EVO magazine’s ‘Best Premium SUV’, Middle East Motor Awards ‘Best Luxury SUV’ and Automobile Middle East’s ‘Best Medium Elegant SUV’.
"We’ve been anxious for the LRX concept to make it to reality for years, and hoping against hope that it would drive as well as it looks. And now it’s here, and it does, matching those stunning visuals with hot-hatch like performance and handling. It’s set to be the must-have car of 2012, and it thoroughly deserves to be," commented Phill Tromans, Deputy Editor of EVO Middle East on the reasons behind the Evoque’s award popularity.
The Jaguar-Ian Callum design success story continued with a formidable string of awards won by the XKR-S and C-X16, adding to the trophies already won by the XJ, XF and C-X75. First unveiled at the Geneva Motorshow last year, the Jaguar XKR-S is Jaguar’s most potent series production car ever, capable of reaching speeds of up to 300 km/h with an acceleration rate of 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds. Through its combination of GT luxury and incredible performance, the XKR-S has garnered rave reviews from automotive journalists, winning several prestigious awards including Automobile Middle East’s ‘Best High performance GT’ and Wheels magazine’s ‘Best GT’.
Said Ibrahim Fahkri from Automobile Middle East: “From our experiences driving the XKR-S in Portugal and Dubai, we determined it had the best combination of design, rear wheel-drive performance, stability, proportions and engine sound, making it the Best High Performance GT.”
The C-X16 concept vehicle, a small hybrid sports coupe, turned heads worldwide when it was revealed at the Frankfurt Motorshow in September. Like the C-X75, the C-X16’s combination of hybrid technology, incredible performance and stunning design has earned it acclaim from a number of automotive publications including EVO Middle East’s award for 2011 Concept Car of the Year.
“We’re incredibly proud to add these regional awards to the Jaguar Land Rover trophy wall. Our 12MY Jaguar and Land Rover fleets have been exceptionally well received by customers in the MENA region and I think we can all look forward to seeing more of these vehicles on the road this year,” commented Robin Colgan, Regional Director of Jaguar Land Rover MENAP.
