Khalifa University and Forensic Evidence Department in Abu Dhabi Police discuss collaboration opportunities

Khalifa University has recently held at its Abu Dhabi campus a meeting with a delegation from the Forensic Evidence Department of Abu Dhabi Police to discuss ways of collaboration between the two in a number of academic and research aspects. 

The meeting was attended by Dr. Tod Laursen, Khalifa University’s President with a number of faculty members from the University’s side, and Colonel Abdul Rahman Mohamed Al Hammadi, Manager of Forensic Evidence Department and a number of officials from the department. 

Specific areas of collaboration would include biomedical engineering, civil engineering, international and civil security and their applications in the field of forensics. Khalifa University also showcased different projects related to Medicine and Health Sciences namely in driver drowsiness alert system, future rehabilitation techniques for patients and modern methods in DNA analysis and its uses in forensics. 

Commenting on the visit, Dr. Tod said: “This meeting is a key step in broadening the collaboration efforts between Khalifa University and Abu Dhabi Police. This is coming from the University’s commitment towards contributing to the advancement of the various government and security sectors in the UAE. We have been fortunate to attract many strong new faculty members and researchers in the health care sector, and view such collaboration as key for them to achieve the knowledge transfer to local stakeholders while advancing our research and teaching agenda.”

Colonel Abdul Rahman said: “The visit aims at discussing the different specializations and collaboration in scientific and research related topics. We are grateful to Khalifa University for their cooperation and we hope to see more of it in the coming days for the benefit of the UAE and its nationals.” 

The series of collaborations between Khalifa University and Abu Dhabi Police has previously witnessed collaboration in the field of technical training and a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding that aims at providing training materials on digital forensics and cyber crimes, which will be used by Abu Dhabi Police personnel.
