Khalifa University announced today that its students took the top prize in four different competition held at a recent American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Conference held at its Abu Dhabi campus.
The Conference, which focused on student professional development, was attended by students from Prince Mohammed University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Petroleum Institute, UAE University, Bits – Pilani – Dubai Campus and the American University of Sharjah compete against one another in six competitions.
The event is an annual conference conducted by a student chapter in order to engage ASME members from the same region in engineering-related activities such as seminars, competitions, and workshops. Previous Student Professional Development Conferences (SPDC) finals were always held in Lebanon, but this year Khalifa University requested the right to host the event for the first time in the gulf region specifically for students from the GCC.
Khalifa University students came first in the Impromptu Competition, the Rapid Design Challenge, the Bridge Competition and the Student Design Competition. The winners of the Student Design Competition will be moving on to compete at the International Mechanical Engineer Congress & Exposition (IMECE) taking place in San Diego, USA in November 2013.
