Khalifa University students intern at Etisalat-BT Innovation Center

Khalifa University announced today that 15 of its students have accepted six week long internships at the Etisalat-BT Innovation Center (EBTIC).
EBTIC, which is the result of a partnership agreement between Etisalat, British Telecom (BT) and Khalifa University, focuses its research and innovation on Next Generation Networks and advanced ICT services and applications which are areas of strategic importance to its founding partners and to the UAE.
“The development of and the investment in local talent is at the core of EBTIC’s vision and mission,” said Professor Nader Azarmi, Director of EBTIC “The student internship program is one such initiative where EBTIC provides industrial placements for Khalifa University students to work on industrial projects with clear tangible deliverables and outcomes. The interns have the opportunity to work alongside EBTIC researchers and in some cases with EBTIC partners to develop solutions for real industry problems.”
Students were selected for their ability to engage in research based projects. The students come from several different engineering backgrounds including: communication, computer, software, electronic and biomedical engineering.
Each student is assigned a supervisor from EBTIC that provides day to day guidance and support to achieve project objectives. The EBTIC supervisors work closely with their academic counterparts to effectively manage the students during the internship.
Some of the interns have been selected for a two week visit to the BT research labs in the United Kingdom to get a bigger exposure to the latest advances in ICT research.
“We are pleased to see our students accept such prestigious internships,” said Dr. Mohammed Al Mualla, EBTIC Board Member and Senior Vice President of Research and Development at Khalifa University. “Interning at EBTIC will provide them with a wealth of experience that they will carry forward into their future careers.”
He continued, “Partnerships, like the one Khalifa University enjoys with EBTIC, are an important part of providing our students with opportunities to engage with industry and fulfilling our mission to provide the future leaders of the UAE economy.”
