Khalifa University to host seventh forum on ICT research and innovation

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court and Vice Chairman of Khalifa University Board of Trustees, Khalifa University announced today that it will hold the UAE’s Seventh Information and Communication Technology Research Forum (ICTRF2013), at its Abu Dhabi campus from May 12th to 14th, 2013.
This year’s forum will be three days long, with the first day focusing on “ICT Research and Innovation towards Creating Smart Ubiquitous Societies” which includes sessions on: ICT and Sustainable Communities (Green ICT & Transportation), Future Generation Networks (Infrastructures), and Intelligent Healthcare Systems (computational healthcare, healthcare robotics). The main topics in these sessions will be presented and discussed by prominent invited international speakers followed by panel discussion.
The second day of the forum will be dedicated to graduate students’ paper presentations and posters in the area of ICT research. Prizes will be awarded to the best three paper presentations and three posters. On the third day, there will be a workshop on Cloud Computing.
Khalifa University’s Executive Vice President and Forum Chair, Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi, said: “We are pleased to announce the seventh annual ICTRF which for the first time will include a complete day dedicated to graduate student presentations, from universities inside and outside the UAE, in ICT research. This forum represents a unique opportunity to discuss the status of the UAE’s research and education networks and future developments. Khalifa University is proud to both operate and host two major centers in the ICT Research, the UAE Advanced Network for Research and Education (ANKABUT) and the ETISALAT-BT Innovation Center (EBTIC), which play a big part in advancing our ability to conduct academic research and participate in private/public entity collaborations.”
ICTRF2013 is co-organized by ETISALAT-BT Innovation Centre (EBTIC) and the Emirates Advanced Network for Research and Education (ANKABUT). ICTRF2013 is sponsored by the TRA (Telecommunications Regulatory Authority) in partnership with Etisalat, the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT), Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), and ICT Fund.
