Japanese Academic delegation visited Khalifa University

An academic delegation from several prominent Japan-based academic institutions visited Khalifa University campus in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. The delegation was given a tour, in which they were exposed to the research facilities, laboratories, research centers as well as meeting with members of the University’s leadership, faculty and students, members of the Japanese club at the University.

The delegation included officials from Japan International Cooperation Center, Tokai University and Ritsumeikan University.

During the visit, the delegation was given an introduction on the University’s Abu Dhabi campus expansion project, toured The Emirates Advanced Education and Research Network (Ankabut), Etisalat-BT Innovation Center (EBTIC),  information security lab, the Institute of International and Civil Security at the university, labs at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, robotics lab and the Nuclear Engineering labs. The tour also included the Discovery Center, which showcases a range of semiconductor technologies and innovatively introduces younger students to science and engineering.

Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi, Khalifa University’s Executive Vice President said: "This visit is aimed at exploring opportunities of collaboration between Khalifa University and prominent Japanese academic institutions. Partnerships like this will result in exchange of knowledge, establishing training programs, enhance the academic experience for researchers and students from both sides."

The Japanese delegation also met with members of the Japanese Student Club. The students talked about activities involve learning the Japanese culture and benefit from scientific progress achieved in Japan.

"It gives me a great pleasure to meet with the Japanese officials and welcoming them in their own language that we learn at the university”, said Khalfan Al Nuaimi, President of the Japanese Club at Khalifa University, “We talked about the club's activities and the efforts put by the University to expose students to foreign cultures, including the Japanese. The Japanese club was founded two years ago with a mission to learn more about the rich Japanese culture and lifestyle, which is characterized by simplicity, working hard and productivity."
