Khalifa University appoints Provost Dr. Jay Noren

Khalifa University announced today the appointment of Dr. Jay Noren as the institution’s provost. Dr. Noren has a very long and distinguished career, having held senior academic and administrative positions in the United States. He has previously served as President of Wayne State University, Chancellor of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, Provost of the University of Nebraska, and Vice Chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has over 35 years of experience in academia, and also served as a Professor in Wayne State’s School of Medicine.
Dr. Noren was also the Founding Dean of the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, in that role, he was charged with the design and implementation of the college organization, recruitment of new faculty and staff, and the development of an expanded educational and research enterprise.
Dr. Noren received his Medical Degree from the University of Minnesota and his Master’s in Public Health from Harvard University in 1976. In addition, he is the recipient of the Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellowship from the National Academy of Sciences, a Congressional Fellow for the U.S.House of RepresentativesAppropriations and Budget Committees, and has acted as a Principal Investigator for the National Institute of Health Policy project, as well as, other investigations into Health Policy and Coverage management.
Dr. Noren is a prolific author and has been published over 45 times in various publications and books including theAmerican Journal of Preventive Medicine, the American Journal of Public Health and the New England Journal of Medicine “We are very pleased to announce Dr. Noren’s appointment to Khalifa University,” said Khalifa University President, Dr. Tod Laursen. “Dr. Noren brings strong academic credentials and invaluable experience in research to Khalifa University.
