Champ into the Arena kicks off with cheers of football enthusiasts

National Arab Motors, Kia Jordan, in cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality, recently launched the biggest five-on-five football tournament in Jordan, the Kia Champ into the Arena event, for the third year in a row. Last Friday saw 128 teams consisting of 756 players from throughout the Kingdom gathered together at the King Hussein Park to mark the start of the tournament.

The winning team will represent Jordan in the international version of the tournament to be held in Poland in addition to attending a semi-finals EuroCup 2012 match to be held in Poland, a exciting prospect that has added to the high level of enthusiasm among competing teams. The tournament has enjoyed massive turnout so far, with a total of 96 games and 553 goals scored over a period of two days. The 3^rd and 4^th rounds will begin on Friday, May 11^th, and Saturday, May 12^th, respectively.

Teams that have thus far distinguished themselves include Shuqair, Dar al-Dawa, Hamada Restaurant, Tiger Receiver, Lala Mills, Hashemite University, and al-Alawin. The matches are overseen by world-class referees from the Jordanian Football Quintuple Union, with teams knocked out of the tournament following their first loss.  The teams qualifying for the 8th round will be split into two groups and the winner from each group will move on to compete in the final championship match. To ensure the safety and well being of all players, a medical team will be present on the field at all times during the tournament.

The Kia Champ into the Arena event is organized by Kia Jordan in cooperation with Kia Motors Corporation, the official partner of the European Football Championship 2012. The tournament is part of a series of similar tournaments organized by Kia distributors in countries across the globe. In addition to attending a semi-final match in Poland, the winning team will represent Jordan in an international Kia tournament.
