Kuwaitis to Return Home On-Board Jazeera Airways in Support of Kuwait Government Efforts to Repatriate Citizens

As part of the repatriation efforts by the State of Kuwait, Kuwaiti citizens will be returning home starting from tomorrow, Sunday, April 19, on board Jazeera Airways flights.

These flights come as part of the largest repatriation program ever for Kuwaiti citizens, executed by the Government of the State of Kuwait as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The airline’s first flights landed this morning, and will continue throughout the day, bringing in citizens from a wide range of destinations across the region. The airlift will continue over the coming days.

All passengers will be received at Jazeera’s Kuwait Passenger Reception Centre (KPRC), which was built by the airline in coordination with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Ministry of Health at Kuwait International Airport to support the latter in screening of all inbound passengers.

The airline had placed its fleet of 14 aircraft at the disposal of the State of Kuwait to support its efforts to return Kuwaiti citizens to the country as well as serve for transporting medical products and equipment needed.

Jazeera Airways Chief Operating Officer, Shaheen Alghanim, said: “Since the start of the pandemic worldwide and the precautionary suspension of flights at Kuwait International Airport, we took full responsibility to safeguard the safety of our customers and employees, and started building the new facility to ensure our passengers are screened before being able to enter into T5.

“We are very honoured to be taking part in these repatriation efforts as a Kuwaiti national carrier and will continue to perform our part to ensure we can support the economy and uphold our national duty. We thank Kuwait’s Government, and particularly the Ministry of Health and everyone working day and night to ensure the safety of the people of Kuwait.”
