After revealing it commissioned ‘Classified’, the latest project by Emirati Film Director and Producer Ali F. Mostafa, luxury automotive manufacturer Land Rover held an exclusive screening of all five episodes of the unique online film series at Dubai Marina Mall’s Reel Cinemas today, a day before the fifth and final episode is shown on MBC.net on Wednesday 26th October at 10pm (UAE time).

‘Classified’ was commissioned by Land Rover to celebrate the launch of the new Range Rover Evoque in the Middle East region. In a bold move away from traditional product placement, Land Rover worked with Range Rover Evoque brand ambassador and City of Life director Ali Mostafa to create a thrilling and exciting online film series in which the car is featured as a main character, with an integral role in the overall storyline.

The story involves three friends – Adam, Badr and Fadi – who must solve a mystery connected to Adam’s late scientist father and mother who were killed in a car crash six months previously. Played out over five episodes, the online series follows the friends as they travel to various locations in the region in search of clues.

In episode five, we see the three friends Adam, Badr and Fadi back in Dubai as their quest to solve the mystery comes to a dramatic conclusion.  The friends are led to a rendezvous point by the mystery man, during which they are also introduced to another man in a suit, played by director Mostafa. To find out what happens next, tune in to MBC.net on Wednesday 26th October at 10pm (UAE time).

Robin Colgan, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover MENAP commented “When we approached Ali about ‘Classified’, we specifically asked him not to do an ad for Range Rover. We wanted a film that would be entertaining whilst capturing the spirit of the car - ultimately it needed to stand up on its own merit with a compelling storyline and characters that would make people want to watch it each week. With ‘Classified’, we are proud to say Ali has done just that, and we hope it makes people want to find out more when the car arrives in the region in November.”

Ali Mostafa added “My response to the brief by Land Rover was to subtly integrate the Range Rover Evoque into the action of the film. For example, the scene in episode three where the thug jumps on top of the car shows the distinctive panoramic roof which is an option on the car, but it also worked really well with the story. This, combined with the speed at which we had to shoot an online film compared to a feature film, was one of the most interesting challenges, making ‘Classified’ such an enjoyable project to work on.”
