Riyadh, 2 June, 2024 – The electrifying sport of padel takes a monumental leap in Saudi Arabia with LG Air Solutions sponsoring the Kingdom's very first Saudi Padel Tournament. Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki, Minister of Sports, this pioneering event marks a new chapter for competitive sports and innovation in the region.

What is Padel?
Padel is a fast-paced racket sport that marries the intricacies of tennis and squash, emphasizing agility and tactical play. Enclosed in glass walls, the court is smaller than tennis, making the game accessible, social, and highly engaging for players and spectators alike.

An Ambitious Vision Translated into Reality
The Saudi Committee for Padel, established in August 2021, embarked on its mission by organizing local tournaments, forming teams, and promoting the sport nationwide. By joining the International Padel Federation in April 2022, it aimed to host and participate in international tournaments.

The Committee’s vision is to make padel one of Saudi Arabia's top five sports. Goals include registering 5,000 local players, preparing 5 referees for international roles by the 2034 Asian Games, and developing 3 athletes ranked in the top 100 globally by 2030. The ambitious plan also involves creating 1,000 courts across 13 regions and 26 cities by 2030, firmly integrating padel into the Saudi sports community and boosting the nation's GDP.
