LG brings cinema 3D thrills to IFA with next generation 3D Home Entertainment Products

LG Electronics (LG) is unveiling its most ambitious 3D Total Solution yet at this year’s IFA tradeshow in Berlin, with a host of CINEMA 3D Smart TVs and monitors, 3D Sound home theater systems and 3D projectors that combine the ultimate in comfortable 3D viewing with a slew of Smart TV features. Further raising the bar for convenience, all LG products in its 3D Total Solution for Home Entertainment can be viewed with a single pair of glasses.

Leading the way in LG’s 3D Total Solution for Home Entertainment is the impressive LW980S, a 55-inch FULL LED TV that delivers CINEMA 3D and Smart TV functions through LG’s unique NANO lighting technology. Along with the LW650S, the eco-friendly LW570S and a host of other CINEMA 3D Smart TV sets, the LW980S is part of a strengthened lineup of 3D TVs with a full range of sizes, options and price points. In addition, VDE, one of Europe’s largest and most respected technical agencies, recently certified that LG’s CINEMA 3D Smart TVs show 3D pictures in Full HD.

LG’s CINEMA 3D Smart TVs come with comfortable and lightweight glasses, affordably priced so family and friends can join in the 3D experience. The TVs also boast the world’s first 3D picture to be certified “Flicker Free” by European quality assurance agencies TÜV and Intertek, meaning viewers can watch 3D for longer periods without the headaches or dizziness that sometimes occurred with older 3D sets.

An advanced 2D to 3D conversion function, along with a 3D Video-on-Demand service on Smart TV-enabled sets, ensures that viewers will never be short of top-quality 3D programs to watch. In addition, Flexible Viewing Angles mean that viewers can watch 3D from practically any position in front of the TV, whether sitting, leaning back or lying down.

Providing the perfect audio for LG’s 3D range is the HX906TX, an all-new CINEMA 3D Sound HTS whose 9.1 speaker system creates the closest thing to the audio power of movie theaters or live concerts.

The HX906TX’s 9.1 speaker system adds four Upright 3D Speakers to the conventional 5.1 channels on a home theater system to deliver an immersive sound that is also powerful enough to capture the delicate background noises of everyday life. The Upright 3D Speakers further enrich the audio by pumping sound upward, while a 360º Reflector inside each of the speakers reflects sound in all directions, creating acoustics as rich as in a concert hall.

By applying LG’s unique 3D effect DSP algorithm, Sound Field Expansion technology further expands the horizontal sound field, and works in harmony with the Upright 3D Speakers to create a truly immersive, 360º sound experience. In addition, the 3D Sound Analyzer adds sound information to any empty space for a more detailed and realistic audio reproduction.

Sharing in the industry-leading CINEMA 3D technology is LG’s range of 3D monitors. As well as boasting Flicker-Free pictures and lightweight glasses, the DM50D displays 100nits of brightness, more than twice the brightness of conventional 3D monitors. The DM50D packs a highly refined 2D to 3D conversion function so viewers can always watch top-quality 3D content on the fly. The conversion function works with or without a PC and switches on automatically for games to deliver the ultimate in 3D gaming.

Using a combination of glasses-free parallax technology and a special camera sensor on the monitor, the D2000 provides the most flexible viewing angles of any glasses-free technology so far, making for supremely comfortable 3D viewing. The 2D to 3D conversion function also makes the D2000 the perfect choice for gaming.

Further illuminating LG’s 3D Total Solution for Home Entertainment is the CF3D, the world’s first passive 3D projector to transmit FULL HD pictures through a single lens. On a projection that can comfortably stretch to 150 inches diagonally, the CINEMA 3D CF3D combines 1,250 ANSI-lumens of brightness (2,500 ANSI-lumens in 2D), a 7,000:1 contrast ratio and TruMotion 120Hz to create bright, beautifully smooth pictures in 2D and 3D. With a small built-in camera on the unit’s front automatically calibrating light and pictures, the CF3D maximizes 3D effects and requires less energy than other 3D projectors. And because it’s designed as a single unit, the CF3D has no need for manual alignment, making it even more mobile.

With its easy-to-use onscreen interface, the BD670 Blu-ray 3D player boasts direct and simple access to a wide range of premium content. Smart TV functions include access to 3D Video-on-Demand, while Blu-ray 3D playback offers the perfect platform for enjoying the fast-growing range of 3D content.
