LG offers two more reasons why your next TV should be 4K and 3D

LG Electronics (LG) announced that its ULTRA HD TV (Model :55UB8500) are the first to be validated by UL(Underwriters Laboratories) for delivering color accuracy, contrast ratio and 3D capacities. Of particular note, UL independently validated that LG’s product was able to deliver quality 4K resolution in 3D mode.

U.S.-based UL tested LG’s ULTRA HD TV’s 2D and 3D capabilities and included accurate color reproduction, contrast ratio, brightness and crosstalk in 3D mode. The two firms validated independently that both of the viewer’s eyes would see 4K Ultra HD resolution when 3D content was being rendered on screen. Delivering 3D content in 4K resolution has always been a challenge for TV manufacturers due to the sheer processing power required to deliver that many lines to each eye without flickering.

“It goes without saying we’re very pleased with the first validation for our products,” said In-kyu Lee, vice president and head of the TV division at LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “Receiving validation from the world’s leading certification body represents another step forward in our mission to demonstrate the incredible potential of LG’s CINEMA 3D technology combined with our truly stunning ULTRA HD televisions.”

The 3D conversion engine built into LG ULTRA HD TVs allows viewers to experience their favorite 2D content in 3D format and because images viewed on LG ULTRA HD TVs are flicker-free, viewers aren’t left feeling dizzy or overly eye-fatigued, unlike competing shutter-glasses 3D TVs. And with True 4K Engine Pro, normal SD, HD and Full HD programs can be converted into near ULTRA HD content in real time.
