Mohammed Bin Rashid launches Best M-Government Service Award

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, today launched the Best M-Government Service Award, an initiative that aims at stimulating the delivery of government services to the public through their mobile phones, anywhere and round-the-clock.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said the award is in line with the m-Government initiative announced recently highlighting the role of the future government in serving citizens around the clock.

“When we launched the m-Government initiative, we asked all the local and federal governmental entities to provide efficient government services to citizens via their mobile phones within 24 months. Some have already started their plans and the award is designed to encourage such responses,” added His Highness.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed also introduced a special award of AED1 million for university students. “They represent our real fortune and I want to present their creativity and innovation to the world when they gather at the next Government Summit 2014.”

His Highness also directed that the award categories must target local, regional and international levels to reflect UAE’s efforts in identifying an inspiring regional and international creative and best practice model in terms of providing outstanding government services.

Best M-Government Service Award standards and categories

The Award will target local and regional government in UAE and the best Arab and international models and includes the following categories:

Award Five Main Categories

Best m-Government service - federal level.

Best m-Government service - local level.

Best m-Government service - Arab level.

Best m-Government service - international level.

UAE University students (1 Million dhs).

Submissions for the awards can be made between December 8 to 12, 2013 through www.mgov-award.ae. The winners will be announced during the 2^nd edition of the Government Summit in February 2014.

Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Size Enterprises

In September 2009, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President & Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai issued Law No.23 of 2009 concerning the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Size Enterprises, recently renamed the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders.

The law defines the goals of the establishment for strengthening Dubai’s position as a centre for entrepreneurship and allows for the setting up of projects which encourage entrepreneurship and the innovative ideas of youth. This move seeks to motivate youth to work, as well as to pursue economic activity, such as the development and organisation of programs and initiatives.
