MAD Solutions Represents Rotana Media Group in Distributing Its Films Outside the Arab World

In a first-of-a-kind initiative in the Arab world, MAD Solutions signed an agreement with Rotana Media Group to distribute its new and classic films outside the Arab world. This initiative brings together films from the libraries of both companies, Rotana and MAD Solutions, whose films have screened at several international film festivals and markets.

On this partnership, Michael Cairns, Chief Operating Officer of Rotana Studios and TV stated, “We're very happy with this collaboration, as it marks an important step for Arabic Cinema.” “Arabic cinema has a rich library that includes new and classic films that Arab audiences know by heart. This collaboration will allow these films to screen outside the Arab world, thus giving foreign audiences the chance to explore the hidden treasures of Arabic cinema.” Cairns added.

Commenting on this step, film analyst Alaa Karkouti, CEO of MAD Solutions and Co-founder of the Arab Cinema Center (ACC), said: “This unprecedented cooperation coincides with the company's 10-year anniversary. MAD Solutions was able to explore new areas for Arabic cinema, whether inside or outside the Arab world. Our agreement with Rotana Media Group is a new step towards opening new markets for Arabic cinema, as Rotana’s library includes the majority of the most important Arabic productions, one of these being Blue Elephant: Dark Whispers that has set a new box-office record in Egypt and around the Arab world.”

Rotana’s film library is one of the largest and most important in the Arab world. The company has a list of over 2,000 Arab classic and new films dating from 1939 until 2020. Furthermore, Rotana recently took an unprecedented initiative to restore 1,600 classic films bringing them back to life and preserving them for future generations. Rotana’s library also includes films that screened at international film festivals, along with some of the highest-grossing Arab films in the history of Egyptian cinema with revenues exceeding EGP 100 million.

Offering a wide range of specialized and general TV channels, Rotana Media Group is one of the oldest and largest media conglomerates in the Arab world.
