SEHA announces new Mafraq Hospital Leadership Team

Mafraq Hospital, the 451 licensed bed hospital andone of the flagship hospitals in the SEHA Health System, today introduced its new seven-strong management team.

The new management team is led by Mr. Lee Huntley, Chief Executive Officer of Mafraq Hospital and supported by Dr. Mohamad Yaman, Chief Medical Officer; Mr. Gregg Florentin, Chief Operations Officer; Dr. Bill Brock, Chief Quality Officer; Mr. Peter Mercer, Chief Financial Officer; Dr. Mustafa Al Maini,  Deputy Chief Medical Officer; Dr. Anwar Sallam, Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Deidre Hegarty, Chief Nursing Officer;the new team has been appointed to guide Mafraq Hospital into the future while upholding the facility’s existing success in delivering the highest standard of care.

With its collective healthcare and rich management experience, the new executive team has been carefully selected to bring a unique perspective and skill set to Mafraq Hospital and the people of Abu Dhabi. Mr. Huntley brings over 30 years of professional experience gained in hospital management in the USA with such hospitals as Central Florida Health Alliance and Covenant Health System, while Mr. Florentin arrives at Mafraq Hospitalfrom his previous role VP of Operations with Meritus Health, a noted US healthcare system in Maryland which included the transitioning of an old 286 bed hospital into a new state of the art 341 bed facility. Dr Brock, appointed as the organisation’s first Chief Quality Officer CQO, has more than three decades of professional experience in hospital quality management and critical care practice, most recently as President and CEO of Independent Quality Consultants.

No stranger to Mafraq Hospital or the Middle East, Mohamad Yaman, M.D., FRCS C has worked as Chief Medical Officer at the facility since 2008 and before that as Director of Medical Affairs withTawam Hospital. A renowned expert in his field, Dr. Yaman is also an experienced leader and a practicing thoracic surgeon with a focus in minimally invasive techniques.

Carl Stanifer, CEO, SEHA, highlighted the significance of selecting Mafraq Hospital as the model for this venture. A new hospital is set to replace the current Mafraq Hospital campus. The new Mafraq Hospital will continue to provide the service and personal quality care that patients have come to expect from SEHA and will secure its position as a leading trauma and surgery facility. It will also serve as the community hospital for one of the fastest growing areas in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, while continuing to align its goals with those of the Executive Council and Abu Dhabi 2030.

Lee Huntley stated: “SEHA has a demonstrated track record of success, which has been proven time and again in its existing ownership role with Mafraq Hospital, along with the other hospitals and ambulatory care clinics it owns and operates. SEHA now steps in wearing a different hat as a managing body and we are confident that this development will result in a more unified approach to operations.”

Mafraq Hospital employs a total of 2,038 healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, laboratory staff, and support workers. Operating the largest burn unit in the country, Mafraq Hospital is a long recognised leader in quality patient care.
