Magnati And ADNOC Distribution Offer Customers Next-Generation Shopping Experience With Region’s First-of-its-kind Automated Convenience Store

ADNOC Distribution, the UAE's largest fuel and convenience store retailer, has partnered with Magnati, a wholly owned subsidiary of First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), to introduce consumers to the future of retail with the region’s first-of-its-kind fully autonomous convenience store.

Located at ADNOC’s Sheikh Khalifa Energy Complex, the pilot ADNOC Oasis store opened its doors in November, welcoming customers to a fully automated convenience store enabled by Magnati’s state-of-the-art payment solutions and autonomous technology. The store is the first in the region to accept card and device payments, such as Samsung Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, in addition to the ADNOC Wallet.

Customers visiting the store start by registering their preferred payment method, which allows them to pick up items that will be added to their cart and billed automatically. Once they are done shopping, they can depart without waiting in checkout queues to pay. Automating the checkout process affords customers greater convenience and time savings, while maintaining the highest levels of personal and payment security. It also increases health safety as contactless payments and lower human interaction reduce the public’s exposure to viruses.

For ADNOC Distribution, faster checkout times improve the shopping experience and help attract new and repeat customers, resulting in increased revenue. The automated store uses cameras and sensors to automatically bill customers for the items that they have selected to purchase, thereby reducing the number of employees required to manage payments and freeing employees for other tasks, resulting in lowering overheads and costs.  To further improve the shopping experience and boost sales ADNOC Distribution will offer customers who have registered to use its automated convenience stores with tailor-made rewards and discounts.

The partnership reaffirms ADNOC Distribution’s leadership position of the UAE’s fuel retail sector by focusing on offering customers an upgraded shopping experience, which will be further enhanced with Magnati’s pioneering technology. Magnati’s integrated solution can be used in other retail settings to enable unmanned payments for any company with autonomous retail technology.
