MAPEI unveils Ultralite S1, the ‘greenest’ locally manufactured adhesive at Big 5 exhibition
MAPEI, the leading global manufacturer of adhesives, sealants and chemical products for buildings, has unveiled its innovative Ultralite S1 cementitious adhesive at the Big 5 International Building & Construction Show taking place from November 21 to 24, 2011 at the Dubai International Exhibition & Convention Centre.
Ultralite S1 has been specially formulated by MAPEI to complement the growing practice of sustainability under challenging construction situations, something Mapei excels at. The material’s formulation provides both ease of installation while also ensuring the health for the workers. Another unique feature is the ‘Ultralite Technology®’ giving Ultralite S1 an extremely low density, thus making a bag of the product 10kg lighter compared to a bag of conventional cementitious adhesive. It also enables a 60 per cent higher yield compared to conventional MAPEI cementitious adhesives.
The next-generation adhesive is highly suitable for bonding all types and sizes of ceramic tiles and natural stones on internal and external surfaces, as well as thin porcelain gres tiles on floors and walls, including external façades. MAPEI is demonstrating the exceptional capabilities of Ultralite S1 alongside its latest waterproofing membranes at Hall 7, Stand E291 of the Big 5 venue. The company also revealed that it will be holding a seminar titled ‘Controlling Corrosion in Reinforced Concrete Buildings and Structures Using MAPESHIELD Innovative Galvanic Protection Technologies’ on November 22nd at the Sheikh Rashid Hall.
“The Big 5 show is the MENA region’s premier building and construction event and is thus an important platform for us to assert our leadership in installation systems for ceramic, stone and flooring. Ultralite S1 particularly reflects our full commitment to products that deliver optimal sustainability and efficiency. It also shows our focus on novel chemistry coupled with the latest in manufacturing techniques to develop pioneering products that suite prevailing market needs,” said Stefano Iannacone, Managing Director, IBS-MAPEI.
MAPEI is well known for its range of adhesives and sealants used to install ceramic, natural stone and other finishes such as wooden, PVC and sports flooring. The company has been involved in some of the most challenging construction projects in the UAE, including the Armani Hotel in Burj Khalifa, Emirates Palace Hotel, the Grand Mosque, Qasr El Sarab resort, Atlantis Hotel on Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab, Ferrari World and Dubai International Airport’s Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
MAPEI recently relocated its offices to Dubai Investment Park (DIP), where the company already has a 40,000 m2 manufacturing facility. The consolidation is partly aimed at gaining a firmer foothold in the local and regional building solutions markets.
