Marriott Hotels in Jordan celebrate clean up the world campaign

In its continuous strive for environmental awareness and community service, Marriott Hotels in Jordan celebrated the “Clean Up the World” campaign. They were joined by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) – Mujib Biosphere Reserve and the Environmental Police in a clean up activity in the Zara Hot Springs area, Jordan Valley on Sunday September 18th, 2011. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Our Place. Our Planet. Our Responsibility”.

Around seventy Marriott associates along with their partners, participated in the activity. Mr. Philip Papadopoulos, General Manager of the Jordan Valley Marriott Dead Sea Resort & Spa and Chairman of the Jordan Business Council, welcomed all participants and thanked them for joining this campaign.

The idea of this campaign is not only to clean up after those irresponsible individuals who litter and pollute the parks, forests and even the main highways but to educate and pass a message to friends, families and colleagues on how important it is to keep our country clean. 

This campaign was targeted towards increasing the employees’ awareness of the importance of taking care of our environment and keeping it free of litter and pollution, which is part of the “Marriott Spirit to Preserve” initiative. Marriott is committed to the responsibility of protecting the environment for its employees, its guests and communities and its aim is to have the most environmentally friendly hotels with employees that are environmentally conscious. 

Marriott International manages three properties in Jordan, the Amman Marriott Hotel, the Petra Marriott Hotel and the Jordan Valley Marriott Resort & Spa, and a fourth property in Aqaba is now under construction.
