Maserati and Poltrona Frau In Motion present: Maserati Weekend Bag
Maserati and Poltrona Frau In Motion, the Poltrona Frau Business Unit specialising in the design of exclusive interiors for cars, aircraft and boats, present Maserati Weekend Bag: a capsule collection of 100 limited-edition travel bags that pays homage to the Trident's centenary and the tradition of Italian Grand Touring.
The project is the result of dialogue between Maserati and Poltrona Frau In Motion, two companies united by a shared vision of Italian excellence and timeless elegance. On the one hand, the Trident, with its interpretation of Grand Touring as a lifestyle, now taking shape in the new Grecale, GranTurismo and GranCabrio; on the other, Poltrona Frau In Motion, custodian of a tradition based on artisan mastery, the quest for quality and design that can transcend time. The encounter between these values gives rise to a collection that combines craftsmanship, innovation and responsibility, transforming material into a story and savoir-faire into experience.
Maserati Weekend Bag
Conceived to accompany every journey with the same effortless elegance that defines the Maserati Grand Touring philosophy, the Maserati Weekend Bag reinterprets the classic travel bag through a refined, contemporary design. Entirely handcrafted in Italy by Poltrona Frau In Motion in Cuoio leather, the bag is distinguished by its structured silhouette, burnished metal finishes, zip closure and canvas shoulder strap featuring a custom Maserati-branded shoulder pad.
The iconic Trident, embossed on the front flap, together with a dedicated Centenary logo embossing on the side panel, pays tribute to the brand's heritage. Inside, a blue canvas lining enriched with the beige Trident monogram frames a leather-trimmed pocket featuring a metal plaque engraved with the progressive number of the limited edition, making each of the 100 pieces unique. Additional details celebrate the collaboration with Poltrona Frau In Motion and the origins of the SUSTAINera project. From its meticulous handcrafted finishes to the protective metal feet, every detail reflects a design philosophy where functionality, exceptional materials and artisanal excellence come together in an object created to transcend time.
Craftsmanship, innovation and circularity
Each Maserati Weekend Bag begins with Poltrona Frau leather originally selected for Maserati seats and 100% reclaimed via a virtuous circular economy process developed by SUSTAINera, the Stellantis division dedicated to the Circular Economy. The leather is also sourced from tanneries certified to the Gold standard at the Leather Working Group (LWG), the most authoritative international certification system. It assesses the environmental performance of tanning workshops, based on criteria such as energy consumption and the management of chemicals and water resources during the manufacturing process. The entire initiative began as part of Star*Up, the Stellantis global intrapreneurship programme created to leverage the business ideas developed by its employees; it promotes a customer-centric approach, transforming innovative projects into concrete solutions. The initiative testifies to the ability of innovation, craftsmanship and responsibility to converge in a model that can preserve and leverage the heritage of skills, quality and savoir-faire that has always distinguished Made in Italy.
The value of time, a new expression of matter
The Maserati Weekend Bag collection thus interprets manufacturing as a gesture of continuity and transformation: its leather finds a new expression without neglecting the bond with its origins.
Each seam, detail and finish tell the story of the encounter between performance and elegance, breathing life into an exclusive item that goes beyond its function to become an expression of style, responsibility and sophisticated travel culture. The material thus continues its journey, transforming recovery into value and innovation into preservation and simultaneous renewal of the link with its history.
The Maserati Weekend Bag collection will be available, as a limited edition, exclusively to registered users of the Tridente App, currently available in selected markets via Maserati Tridente App - App Store and Maserati Tridente - Apps on Google Play. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in October.
Giovanni Maiolo, General Manager of Poltrona Frau In Motion, commented: “The Maserati Weekend Bag was born from a shared vision: to interpret contemporary luxury as a balance between manufacturing excellence, the culture of travel and responsibility. For Poltrona Frau In Motion, this project represents a tangible way of extending the value of materials, transforming craftsmanship and savoir-faire into a new expression of Italian elegance.”
Davide Baldini, Head of Maserati Fuoriserie & Responsible for Global Merchandising Strategy, stated:
"To celebrate the centenary of the Trident, we have created a collection that reimagines a material originally destined for our vehicle interiors, transforming it through a circular economy approach into an object that embodies the values that have always defined Maserati: artisanal excellence, exceptional craftsmanship, the finest materials and timeless elegance. With Poltrona Frau In Motion, we also share the same appreciation for savoir-faire, design and the culture of travel. It is this common vision that gave life to a project expressing the most authentic essence of Grand Touring—a philosophy that for more than a century has united performance, comfort and elegance, and which continues to be embodied today in the new Grecale, GranTurismo and GranCabrio."
