MBRF delegation visits Egypt to strengthen cooperation prospects

A delegation from Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MBRF) visited the Arab Republic of Egypt to reinforce its cooperation with the country as well as to review their joint knowledge initiatives. The delegation was led by His Excellency Jamal Bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, who was accompanied by Shamsa Al Balooshi, Director of Partnerships Management at MBRF, Dr. Khaled Abdel Fattah, Advisor of Knowledge and Digital Solutions at the MBRF, and Salem Al Owais, Chairman of Dubai International Program for Writing.
During a meeting with His Excellency Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports of Egypt, the delegation discussed the preparations for hosting the second edition of ‘Youth Knowledge Forum’ and the launch of ‘Youth Knowledge Week’ in Egypt. They further evaluated the work of the Ministry’s Knowledge Office, for which H.E Jamal Bin Huwaireb was appointed as the Honorary President. Furthermore, they explored newer avenues to strengthen the partnership between the Foundation, UNDP and the Ministry to activate knowledge movement across Egypt.
As the tour continued, the delegation visited the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, where they met His Excellency Dr Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Egypt. During the meeting, they followed up on the recent developments in the field of skill development and on granting the training licenses to the Ministry, on which the agreement was signed. Additionally, the delegation gave a presentation on the “Arab Innovation Forum”, MBRF’s comprehensive Arab platform, which convenes experts, organisations and entrepreneurs. The delegation also invited the Ministry to attend the “Knowledge Youth Forum” in Egypt and the 2024 Knowledge Summit, which will be organised in Dubai in November.
Moreover, H.E Jamal bin Huwaireb, Shamsa Al Balooshi, Dr. Khaled Abdel Fattah, and Salem Al Owais, met Eng. Abdul-Sadiq Al-Shorbagy, Head of the National Press Authority of Egypt. Commenting on the meeting, Al-Shorbagy highlighted the key initial step towards hosting joint events focusing on training and developing the technical and professional skills of Egyptian journalists. Furthermore, he expressed his pleasure at the potential of the visit in ensuring further cooperative initiatives in the future.
Additionally, the delegation also met Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Alexandria Library in Egypt, during which they explored possibilities of joint cooperation to enhance the knowledge library content to boost the youth’s talents and empower them for the future. During the visit, the delegation, in collaboration with UNDP, presented the Foundation’s experience in launching Digital Knowledge Hub, an open platform, along with other projects, including the Global Knowledge Index and the Future Skills 4all.
H.E Jamal Bin Huwaireb extended his appreciation for being a part of the meetings, and emphasised the key role of Egypt in pioneering the knowledge landscape in the region. Furthermore, H.E underpinned the significance of joint cooperation with Egypt’s National Press Authority in activating knowledge initiatives in the field of journalism. He added: “Our visit to Egypt comes as a part of our efforts to improve bilateral ties between both countries. In the future, we seek to further strengthen coordination and cooperation with Egypt in various fields of knowledge. We, at the Foundation, aim to share our experiences and expertise with key Egyptian institutions to support our mutual goals of developing knowledge communities among Egyptian and Arab youth in general.”
This recent visit signifies the strength of cooperation and collaboration between both countries, further exemplifying the foundation’s plans to continue their visits to follow up on joint knowledge initiatives. It underscores their goal to implement new development projects and programmes aimed at Egyptian society.
