Merle Norman, the leading American cosmetics and makeup brand, is marking its 80th anniversary with a spectacular new brand make-over that spans its external identity as well as its approach to new products with a focus on vibrant, bold colors that appeal to all cross-sections of consumers, especially the young and trendy. 

Merle Norman has rolled out a new sleek and trendy logo that underlines the brand’s online presence, while the new packaging designed by award-winning designer Marc Atlan provides a unique and upscale presentation to the products. The extensive product range will be rolled out as just one Merle Norman line of high quality skincare, makeup and color products – all made in the USA, from the actual jars to bottles, compacts, caps and cartons.

Marc Atlan’s new design for Merle Norman unifies the line with an architectural motif that carries across all components of the brand including cartons, jars, bottles, compacts, tubes and caps. Two parallel lines divide each package into three proportional segments, with the motif molded into the components in some products to provide a textural and visual detail. On other products, the architectural motif is decorative. The earlier golden accent of the brand has given way to a sparkling silver that lends a more modern and sophisticated presentation. 

Atlan has a vast portfolio of creations both in the beauty industry and other high-end sectors. His designs recently won him the prestigious 2011 Stars of Design - Product Designer of the Year Award from the Pacific Design Center. 

Merle Norman opened its first studio in 1931 in Santa Monica. Empowering women by providing them the opportunity to become successful entrepreneurs, the brand’s eponymous founder made history with her ‘try before you buy’ approach. 

Today, Merle Norman Cosmetic Studios are located throughout the United States, Canada and in seven countries internationally.
