Microsoft Gulf broadens Software Donation Program in the UAE to reach more nonprofits and communities

Microsoft Gulf has announced an expansion of its Software Donation Program in the United Arab Emirates made possible in collaboration with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD). Through this partnership, 22 non-profit organizations across the UAE will be supported through receiving access to the latest Microsoft technology that will in return, enhance their abilities to service the community.
The Software Donation Program is a global initiative by Microsoft that provides over 60,000 non-profit organizations around the world. Through this program, non-profit organizations are empowered to, operate more effectively, enhancing their services to the community. The program has already provided more than $3.9 billion worth of software to non-profits around the world since its establishment in 1998.
As a result of the collaboration in the UAE, the software portfolio available to these non-profits includes Microsoft’s latest productivity solutions such as Windows Client, Office, SQL Server, and SharePoint Server. Commenting on this expansion, Samer Abu Ltaif, Regional General Manager at Microsoft Gulf said, “At Microsoft, we are committed to making technology more accessible, enabling nonprofits to increase their productivity, reach more people and deliver new, improved services that directly help local communities. The expansion we are announcing today is designed to make the program more relevant and accessible to a larger number of nonprofits in the UAE, which will in turn have a positive impact in local communities across the country. I would like to take this opportunity to thank IACAD for their partnership and collaboration in ensuring that these organizations are empowered with the latest technology innovation, enhancing their ability to service the community,” he continued.
Director-General of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai (IACAD), Dr. Hamad Bin Al Sheikh Ahmed Al Shaibani stated, “The department works to make best use of all potentials in hand in order to develop charitable work in Dubai through establishing partnerships with related bodies. Microsoft is one of the pioneering corporations in the field of technology. Collaborating with them is like value-added to our future projects.”
Dr. Al Shaibani added that the department has approved a number of projects and initiatives that target all customer categories to enhance charitable work and that most of these initiatives depend on technical solutions.
