Millennium Resort Mussanah will host the Muscat Triathlon Club on September 26th as the athletes prepare for the next stage of this year’s Hotel Club Series triathlon competition. Competitors will be based at the hotel before taking to the Gulf of Oman, the cycling route used by the Tour of Oman in Mussanah and complete a road race near to the resort for the three-discipline event.

Maurice De Rooij, General Manager of the Millennium Resort Mussanah, said: “Millennium Resort Mussanah is proud to welcome the Muscat Triathlon Club to the resort as part of their countrywide competition. Triathlon is one of the world’s fastest growing sports and Oman aims to establish the Middle East’s first international ‘Ironman’ triathlon event within the country. Millennium Resort Mussanah was built on the site of the 2nd Asian Beach Games and retains many of the world class leisure facilities that allow the resort to be the ideal host for an international event. The resort offers a wide range of leisure facilities that will help to prepare the athletes and help them recover, as well as providing a spectacular backdrop to the competition.”

Triathlon is one of the most physically demanding events and a true test of athletic endurance, skill and determination. Muscat Triathlon Club’s Hotel Series competition is based on the popular Sprint and Super Sprint for juniors and novices format where competitors complete the three events without a break but over shorter distances than a full triathlon.

Millennium Resort Mussanah promotes a healthy lifestyle through its wide range of leisure facilities onsite, including the resort’s health & fitness centre which has just been completely renovated with the latest Technogym exercise equipment. The Kinesis exercise stations are designed for resistance exercise programmes and unlike traditional weighted cable equipment, the cable and pulley system provides 360-degree movement to improve strength, balance and stability for a more challenging workout.  Along with a free weights area, state of the art cross trainers and running machines for cardiovascular exercise, the fitness centre has something for all abilities.

The resort also offers outdoor facilities for staying in shape including an outdoor fitness track which feature a 200 metre jogging area and outdoor training units designed to improve strength, fitness and flexibility. The hotel also boasts five swimming pools, three beach football fields, a beach volleyball court, and a 18-hole mini golf course on site, as well as healthy eating options in all four of the resort’s restaurants and lounges.
